Gary was born in West Seattle and has lived here his whole life. Gary graduated from Chief Sealth High School and after a stint in the Marine Corps he went to Highline Community College, then graduated from UW in Business Administration.

Gary learned carpentry from his grandfather and many friends growing up. In 1979 he started Potter Construction and in 1984 he joined the Seattle Master Builders Association, where he learned how to run the business side of a remodeling company. Gary has been recognized by the MBA for his contributions to the industry, and currently has a CGR designation.

With a wife and 2 boys he is active in the community, being in Rotary and in the WS Chamber of Commerce. Gary’s hobbies include golf, reading, traveling, and collecting single malt scotch.
