West Seattle Home Remodel
Project Overview:
The 1.5-story Humbert house in West Seattle was plain and simple on the outside—a “cracker box” according to owner Catherine Humbert—with a small shed dormer too cramped for anything but storage. The home also had a dining room with a flat roof in desperate need of replacement. But on the up side, the property did have partial views of Mt. Rainier with potential for improvement.
The Humberts wanted a remodel that would give the house a facelift, add more space, and capitalize on their mountain view. Potter Construction’s solution was the addition of a larger gable, creating a great room and a covered front porch for better street appeal. In back, Potter Construction enlarged the existing shed dormer to create a master suite, a view deck with sliding glass doors, and a new roof over the dining room.
